Now there’s a way to support your favorite causes directly through YouTube. With its latest feature, YouTube allows users to donate to the video creator’s nonprofit of choice without even leaving the page.
What’s The New Feature?
Instead of using an external site to donate, donors can now give on the go, directly from the video page using donation cards.
The best part is that 100% of every donation will go directly to the charity. While only specific nonprofits were able to use this feature previously, YouTube has now given all creators stateside the opportunity.
With donation cards available on both mobile and desktop versions of YouTube, there’s more opportunity for companies to do good. Over one billion people utilize YouTube daily, so the addition of donation card call-to-actions to all videos can make way for some serious opportunity!
How To Get Started
Creators simply go the “video manager” section on YouTube and hit the “edit” button. From there, donation cards can be activated from the drop-down menu.
Creators will then be able to enter their charity of choice in the pop-up window that appears.
How It Works
For the viewers who wish to donate, they can find the donation card below the video in the “more info” section. From there, all they have to do is choose their donation amount in the pop-up menu.
Now that this feature is available to all creators on YouTube, it can only mean further contribution to the equity of our world. Not only will the charities benefit, but so will YouTube with the positive publicity the platform will receive. Consumers want to see brands that provide social good opportunities in 2016, and YouTube is definitely on the right track with this new feature.
