Maloto Promotes Positive Lasting Change in Malawi with Website

Liqui-Site launches responsive website for New York-based, international non-profit organization

(Nyack, NY) October 28, 2013 – Liqui-Site Designs, Inc. announced today the launch of a new website for Maloto, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing lasting, positive change to Malawi.

After returning to Mzuzu, Malawi in 2003 for her sister’s funeral, Anna Msowoya Keys was shocked at the number of children that attended the funeral. When she was told they were there in hopes of receiving food, she realized immediately the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS on the community. The disease had wiped out a generation of caregivers, teachers, and community leaders; and left thousands of children orphaned. She was heartbroken and decided something had to be done. So, she founded Maloto.

Fulfilling its mission to feed, educate and empower women and children, Maloto works with local partners in Malawi to develop and support programs for nutrition, education and entrepreneurship: The Kwithu Women’s Group provides meals, early childhood education and afterschool tutoring, and community HIV/AIDS outreach programs to support vulnerable children; Kwithu Kitchen is a women-owned food-processing cooperative focused on producing value-added agricultural products; and the Mzuzu International Academy is an internationally accredited secondary school that provides students with a diverse, vibrant learning community and quality education.

Liqui-Site was responsible for the custom design and implementation of Maloto’s new website on the Shopify platform, at www.malotoinc.org. The responsive site provides a flawless user experience and accommodates the organization’s need to offer a user-friendly approach to sustainability through online contributions – including corporate gift matching – and fundraiser event ticketing. In order to streamline administrative processes, Liqui-Site implemented forms for volunteers and for those looking to contact the organization.

Integrated social media and an on-site blog allow for further engagement with the organization and streamline digital media marketing efforts. These features position the organization to meet fundraising goals and expand their important work.

Liqui-Site welcomed the chance to work with Maloto Inc., recognizing the organization’s valuable and sustainable work, and adding to the firms extensive non-profit and pro bono ‘family of clients’. Maloto’s emphasis on local solutions to local problems resonated with Liqui-Site’s approach, as demonstrated by the company’s Collective Social Responsibility initiative (https://www.liqui-site.com/About/Collective-Social-Respons…), which donates a portion of all project fees to a charity selected by the client.

Anna Msowoya Keys, Founder and CEO of Maloto, said “The Liqui-Site team was very helpful and professional. They took the time to understand our mission and translate that into a website that conveys who we are, what we do, and the impact we want to make. Our goals are ambitious, and the more people we have to join us, the more we can do to help improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable, but ABLE, women and children. We are counting on the website to play an important role in educating, motivating, and inspiring existing supporters, as well as to help us raise the funds we need from new supporters, in order to touch the lives of Malawi’s women and children.”
